Joëlle is a social worker. The very demanding profession eventually lead her to try oriental dancing as a therapeutic way of re-energizing herself. Other than oriental dance, she is currently studying art therapy in a graduate degree university micro-program. Her passions also include arts and crafts as well as biking trips.
At an early age, Joëlle was already fascinated by oriental dance. After a short run in Latin dances, the year 2000 marked the debut of a marvellous adventure as she discovers the joy of belly dancing and other oriental dances through the teachings of Mme Khadija Jabiry. Ever since, she’s had a growing interest for oriental dances which lead her to join the Baladi et danses de l’orient: Tywalline troupe in January 2003. This passion embarked her on a journey to Egypt where she participated in the 5th edition of the “Festival de danse orientale Ahlan Wa Sahlan” which was held in Cairo in the summer of 2004. This moving experience has left her with wonderful memories which lead her to perfect this art alongside professionals such as Dr Mo Geddawi and Farida Fahmy. For Joëlle, continuous learning is extremely important. This is why in addition to the Tywalline troupe, she persistently participates in workshops and oriental dance lessons offered by a multitude of professionals from the industry, including Magdy El-Leisy, Aziza, Hadia, Noor, Yousry Sahrif, Dina, Azhia, Denise Enan, Faten Salama, El Sayed, etc ...
The Tywalline’s participation in various cultural events and shows, constitute a great source of inspiration on a daily basis. Consequently, her desire to learn and the pleasures of dancing are renewed every time she dances for an audience.
