Allison's dance journey began in 2000 following the bellydance performance of a friend, when her mom (who had taken bellydancing lessons in the seventies) suggested the two of them take classes together.
Fascinated by the music and movements, Allison has not stopped taking lessons from a variety of local teachers in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, and Montreal. She has travelled the Canadian provinces to learn from international instructors such as Hadia, Sahra Saeeda, Beata and Horatio Cifuentes, and Youssry Sharif.
As an engineer who often finds herself wearing a hard hat and steel toed boots, Allison credits Middle Eastern dancing as her way of maintaining balance and staying connected to her feminine side. Allison enjoys every chance she gets to shimmy with her Tywalline sisters and feels very fortunate to get to learn from Khadija Jabiry.
